Tronque’s Beginning
Tronque's journey began with a personal battle — one that left its founder Tanné Snowden, searching for answers beyond the ordinary. After undergoing a second surgery for endometriosis, Tanné decided to dig deeper into the factors influencing this condition. What’s your number-one pick for those who are new to your brand?

Firming Butter is a soufflé of velvety repairing butters combined with active biotech ceramides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, Atlantic Ocean kelp, New Zealand red seaweed and red maple bark to protect and restore.
Vitamin C Body Oil is far from your typical body oil with patented ceramides, biotech lipids, Vitamins A and C and nutrient-rich vitamins and minerals.
I do have a weakness for our Firming Butter. I have typically dry skin, and this is deeply nourishing and repairing. The combination of actives delivers long-lasting hydration and nutrients to the skin. Customers turn into lifetime subscription customers as soon as they try it.
What was your background before this?
My background is in film and fine art. I completed a BA(Hons) at Auckland University and have worked in the creative field since. Tronque began as a personal project after my previous health battles. I was no stranger to the high demands of running a business after watching my parents run their own business from when I was very young
How have you found the beauty industry in New Zealand?
The New Zealand beauty industry is small and very connected, and I have only the highest gratitude to everyone I have met who helped me along the way. I have met many incredible mentors, scientists and industry leaders who have been so open and helpful.
It has also been really wonderful to meet other founders in the industry. They are all so passionate about their own journeys and ethos for starting their brands.
What are the must-have steps in your everyday skincare routine?
Moisturiser, hands down. I have extremely dry skin and cannot get enough moisturiser in my life, head to toe.
I use only ‘clean’ beauty products and love to try everything new to the market. I also believe in ingestible beauty and love supplements, collagen powders and elixirs.
What does self-care mean to you?
Self-care is all encompassing for me, a complete mind-body experience.
For me, it is about taking time for myself, reflection, meditation and body work.
For me, breathwork and grounding myself change everything. That sounds so simple, but when we feel overwhelmed and unfocused, we tend to forget breathing deeply to refocus. I also meditate at night, which allows my racing mind to calm. I also love guided meditation. I have a hectic mind and have never been able to meditate before trying a particular type of guided meditation.
Also, I am working on my boundaries and saying no to things that don’t serve my authentic self has been very helpful.
Clean beauty remains at the core of Tronque, can you tell us why it’s been so important to you?
Tronque’s philosophy is to offer the safest products with the highest
efficacy. Tronque has very strong guidelines and brand values for its clean
Philosophy.
We never want a customer to question, “Could this harm me?” We source the highest quality and efficacious ingredients from green chemistry and nature. The skin of the body is 85% of your largest organ. This large surface area can absorb more harmful ingredients than your face, which is why Tronque was created as a safe haven.
It’s about applying the same principle from the face to the body and giving yourself a body ritual every day because we usually neglect it.
We are endocrine disruptors free, as these compounds can have a profoundly negative impact on our health, quality of life, and overall well-being. Endocrine disruptors can interfere with the production, release, metabolism and elimination of normal functioning hormones, or they can bind to receptors and mimic hormones already within the endocrine system. They’re commonly found in our beauty and personal care products.
They can also mimic androgenic (male sex hormone) and estrogenic (female sex hormone) functions. Often referred to as xenoestrogens (environmental chemicals with estrogenic activity), these receptors can bind to estrogen and promote estrogen-responsive genes.
Most of our time is spent on research and development. We start with what problem we want to solve first and then research what ingredients are involved in solving the problem. We research the best, most effective ingredients with clinical data available. We often ask ourselves, why has no one used these ingredients in body products before? Our research takes months before we even get to the sampling stage.
