Don’t knock it ‘til you try it, ugly comfy shoes are totally taking over.
We saw it with the Yeezy slides, chunky Filas, and Moon Boots, but it hasn’t stopped there. Ugly comfy shoes are everywhere and trend predictions say they’re here to stay. Whether you’ve been around the block in your ugly comfys or are starting out fresh, there’s an ugly comfy shoe made to fit your lifestyle. So take a peek.
Something for every season, here is the ugly comfy shoe lineup of dreams.
Spotted on Kendall Jenner, the Boston Clog is a Birkenstock classic that’s been gaining traction recently. These sandal/shoe slip-on hybrids come in countless colours and styles. Perfect for the granola girlies who need something to slide into before watering the garden, or wear with your fave pair of jeans before grabbing a smoothie bowl. You can even get them lined with fleece if you’re prone to frozen feet!
So iconic they barely need an introduction. Crocs have been a household name since their release in 2002. The more recent platform version of the shoe has given Crocs a rebirth, and after being a bit cringe for a few years, nobody is wearing these ironically anymore - Crocs have regained their legacy and are a completely serious fashion statement again.
Maybe the coolest thing about Crocs are Jibbitz, the teeny tiny decorations made to plug the croc holes and make them even cuter. Stylize your crocs by covering them in flowers, or cars - whatever you’re into, make them your own!
There are of course, so many different types of croc styles too! If you feel restrained by covered shoes, break free and try croc sandals - now that is what I call an ugly comfy.
Popularised by trendsetter and streetstyle queen herself, Bella Hadid, Ugg boots are coming in hot. Miss Hadid was spotted in New York strutting her stuff in these ugly comfys in September. But it's not just Bella to blame for this ugg boot craze, the likes of Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Keke Palmer, and Elsa Hosk have also been trotting around their respective cities in these adorably ugly comfy uggs.
New Balance Unisex 530
Ah yes, the classic dad sneaker. Maybe the most comfy shoe in the whole lineup, but maybe the ugliest too. The New Balance 530 are some of New Balance’s best selling kicks. Designed to be a running shoe, you can be sure these genderless trainers will last you all day at work and then all night at the club too. Need I say more?
Will these bad boys ever go out of fashion? The answer is no. Tevas have been around forever. Well technically, they've been around since the 80’s which proves how durable they are. Calling the Teva ugly may be a controversial opinion because styled the right way, they serve tourist chic. Perfect if you plan on running away to Europe and soaking up the sun sometime soon.
