Trend Edit: Master the Draped Trend
BY GEORGIA ROSE
Fashion Alert: The draped trend is here to stay.

Romantic dressing has a new friend: the dreamy goddess-inspired draped trend.
Channel the ultra-feminine look with fluid pleating into everyday dressing that injects a little bit of interest into every outfit, and suits all body types. The ruching highlights all the right things, but can be moved around to suit your shape.
Whether it’s a figure hugging dress (a La Norma Kamali) or separates that can be broken up with classic pieces that are already in your wardrobe. Although the draped look is currently in trend, we believe it’s a timeless addition to your wardrobe that won’t go out of style!
Below are our favourite draped pieces to get you hooked on the latest trend.
Cloud Top
This shape has been super popular (a la Paris Georgia), sp I’m glad to come across another Kiwi brand’s twist on the off-the-shoulder draped top. I love the variations of colours, and better yet, as each piece is custom made you can request colours too. Win win! I would pair this with a pair of black jeans and heels for the perfect girls lunching outfit.
Draped Stone Top
Another Paris Georgia favourite, the draped top is literally just as it sounds. It’s a soft stretching rayon that will work on many sizes. I love how they’ve styled it with the matching skirt, but it would work perfectly in a more casual setting too.
Kirby Top
The Kirby Top is a minimalist's dream. The ruching is built into the sides of the top, highlighting the perfect spot on your waist. This is the perfect forever piece that will work with everything, from skirts to pants.

Gloria Drawstring Dress
Wixii’s answer to summer soirées. It’s a more subtle drapery than others, but just as effective. The side pulls allow you to control where the dress sits around the waist, hips and lower back. I love that it’s slightly sheer, which gives you so much room for styling over the season.
Toga Tunic
Rick Owens provides a masterclass in drapery. The back is where this top really shines, but could easily be reserved for two different looks. My favourite part is the secret ties underneath the top which allow you to cinch the waist.
Dune Midi Dress
Summer colours, ready for summer parties. Ready for any Grecian goddess, the one shoulder is where the draping really begins. You'll turn heads as you dance the night away
Karina Mini Dress
You can’t get more classic Bec and Bridge than this. Available in 9 colours, the Karina Dress will literally fit in everyone’s wardrobes. The crepe fabric is soft, and has a bit of stretch so it’s comfortable on the body. Pull on an open white shirt for a more casual look, or dress it up with heels for dinner! PS. You can also rent this on Designer Wardrobe!
Diana Dress
If you’re a resident fashion chum around here, you’ll know I can’t stop talking about Norma Kamali. It took me a while to buy in, but once I did, I can honestly say the reviews are true. The Diana dress works for everyone, perfectly shaping the body. While this pick is the mini dress, both this and the maxi (which I own) is the perfect summer wedding guest outfit.
Ruby Dress
Another kiwi brand buying into the trend is Wynn Hamlyn. The subtle drape runs down the body, which is mirrored in a few different dresses and tops for his recent collection. The Ruby One Shoulder Dress is a standout for both everyday dressing and for all your events, which I’d pair with some strappy sandals.
