Because tossing and turning until the early hours is fun for no-one.

Who the hell else can't sleep? I mean, seriously, who hasn't spent countless nights tossing and turning, staring at the damn ceiling, and praying for the sweet release of slumber? We've all been there, my sleep-deprived comrades. But dot stress I've got some kickass tips to help you improve your sleep and finally get the rest you deserve.

Unleash the Herbal Power: Ashwagandha and Magnesium

Have you ever considered giving Ashwagandha and magnesium a shot to conquer your sleep woes? These magical ingredients can work wonders and are my GO-TO for when I know it’s going to be a tough night (you know when you just know). Ashwagandha, a gift from ancient Ayurvedic medicine, helps soothe your soul and kick stress to the curb. And we all know stress is the ultimate sleep saboteur. As for magnesium, it's like a tranquil lullaby for your muscles, easing them into a state of relaxation. So why not experiment with this herbal combo and see if it's the sleep potion you've been searching for? I have linked my two favourite supplements below.

Setting the Stage

Let's start by transforming your sleeping environment from chaos to serenity. Is your bedroom a hot mess, filled with clutter and a mattress that feels like a torture device? Well, guess what? Your sleep is suffering, chums. It's time to declutter your shit and potentially invest in a comfy mattress, sheets and pillows that transport you to cloud nine and create a tranquil space that screams, "Sleep, baby, sleep!"

Embrace a Routine: Consistency is Key

Bedtime routines may sound boring as hell, but trust me, they work magic. Establish a consistent schedule where you hit the hay and rise at the same damn time every day, even on weekends (you can have some weekend nights off don't fret). Your body thrives on routine, and once it gets the memo, it'll prep itself for sleep like a pro. Slip into your favourite PJs, brush those pearly whites, and engage in activities that help you unwind. Whether it's diving into a good book, a hot shower, or practising some Zen-inducing yoga, find your groove and stick to it like glue.

Say Goodbye to Screens

Okay, let's talk about the elephant in the room — technology. We're all guilty of scrolling through our phones, catching up on the latest gossip on tiktok or binge-watching Netflix until our eyeballs beg for mercy. But here's the cold, hard truth: that shit messes with your sleep, big time. I am the most guilty of this so please don't feel like I’m preaching to you. The blue light emitted by screens messes with your melatonin production, the hormone that regulates your sleep-wake cycle. So, be a sleep warrior and ditch the devices at least an hour before bed and pick up a book. Yeah, I know it's tough, but your sleep quality will thank you. If your bedtime partner likes to have their screens on after lights out, kindly ask them to join you. Nothing is worse than detoxing but being interrupted to watch a video they may find funny.

Scents that Seduce Sleep

Did you know that certain scents can work their magic and lull you into dreamland? Incorporate aromatherapy into your sleep routine by using essential oils like lavender, chamomile, or vanilla. These fragrances have a calming effect, reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation. You can diffuse them in your bedroom, add a few drops to your pillow, or even indulge in a sleeping candle (linked below). Let the enchanting aromas guide you to a night of blissful sleep.

Headphones ON

When counting sheep just won't cut it, why not turn to the soothing power of audiobooks? Immerse yourself in the calming wisdom of Eckhart Tolle's audiobooks (Chatty Editor’s top recommendation), where his soothing voice and profound teachings can ease your mind and promote relaxation. If that’s not for you why not try sleep tunes and ambient soundscapes that create a tranquil auditory atmosphere? There are also a number of Buddhist podcasts which offer guided meditations and insightful discussions on mindfulness and inner peace. By incorporating these auditory delights into your bedtime routine, you can enhance relaxation, quieten your mind, and invite sweet dreams into your sleep sanctuary.

Remember, my sleep-deprived pals, achieving better sleep is a journey that requires patience and experimentation. Incorporate these tips into your routine, listen to your body, and find what works best for you. Sleep is a precious commodity, and with a little effort, you can reclaim your rightful place with ease of sleep. So, sleep tight, and may your nights be filled with the most restorative of slumbers.
