BY JENNY JUNG
A run down on Auckland's best Pilates studios, tested and ranked.

31 MAR - 2026
Grip socks on. Let's go.
Auckland’s pilates landscape has exploded in the best possible way.
We're talking contrast therapy, eucalyptus ice towels, GHD hairdryers post-class and sound baths after your reformer session. This is not your regular gym class.
Whether you're a seasoned reformer devotee or still wondering where to start your journey, we've rounded up the best studios in Auckland right now — from the CBD to East Tāmaki, and everywhere in between.
Sala – Ponsonby
If Pilates had a spiritual home in Auckland, it would be Sala.
Tucked into a refurbished factory on Brown Street, this Ponsonby institution has been a cornerstone of the city's fitness culture since 2018. Founder Sarah Lindsay built it on one belief: working out should never feel like a chore.
With over 150 classes a week (reformer Pilates, yoga, barre, HIIT, breathwork) there is genuinely something for everyone. The studio is split across four beautifully designed rooms, each with its own Angus Muir light installation. The Eclipse room – Auckland's largest reformer studio with 18 beds – is where the magic happens.
Beyond the workout, Sala is a community. There's a co-working space with koha coffee, a healing room as well as an infrared sauna or contrast therapy available to book.
All classes are contract-free and drop-in. Beginners are warmly welcomed, and the instructors are brilliant, encouraging and make every session worth showing up for.
Location: 48 Brown St, Ponsonby
Redroom Wellness – Auckland CBD
Dark, heated, and seriously chic — Redroom is the CBD studio you didn't know you needed.
Nestled in the lower level of City Works Depot on Wellesley Street West, this studio is built around infrared-heated rooms that get you sweating from minute one. The star of the show is hot mat HIIT Pilates: low-impact, high-intensity and done in a dimly lit space with big mirrors and a soundtrack that gets you going.
The aesthetic is polished and sleek with a vibe that feels more boutique hotel than gym. Yin yoga and other classes round out the timetable for those who want to balance intensity with something more restorative.
Location: Shed 15/90 Wellesley St West, Auckland CBD
Mii Studio – East Tāmaki
Everyone in the know is talking about Mii Studio.
Mii Studio at Highbrook is the beautiful, boutique reformer studio the east side has long deserved. This studio is beautifully designed, impeccably run and buzzing with the energy of a community that knows it's onto something good.
Owner and instructor Rubyn is at the heart of it all. Her teaching is clear, encouraging and magnetic – and her team of instructors have earned equally devoted followings. Everyone here makes you feel like you belong, whether it's your first ever class or your hundredth.
What really sets Mii apart is its community energy. Regular events, including outdoor Pilates sessions at nearby Highbrook Park, give the studio a lifestyle brand feel that goes well beyond the reformer.
Follow their socials. You won't want to miss a thing.
Location: Unit 9/31 Highbrook Drive, East Tāmaki

Cora Studio – Westmere
Cora is not just a Pilates studio. It is the most complete wellness experience in Auckland.
Opened in September 2025 by Mibella Villafana – who brings 15 years of Pilates training and a formal background in psychology – Cora sits on Kingsley Street in Westmere. The name comes from corazón, meaning "for the love of."
The reformer classes are precision-led, movements are layered intelligently, corrections are nuanced and the room feels focused rather than frantic. Mibella's signature Burn class already has a devoted fanbase.
Then there's the contrast therapy zone: a Finnish sauna set to 85°C and two ice baths at 2°C and 8°C. Sessions are capped at six guests. It is part recovery ritual, part community experience.
Upstairs, the Cora Gallery showcases curated New Zealand and international art. The IV Lounge offers vitamin drip treatments. Corporate wellness retreats are available for teams. There is truly nothing else like it.
Introductory offer: 10 mix-and-match Pilates and contrast therapy classes for $99.
Location: 2 Kingsley St, Westmere
Reform Fitness – Citywide
If you've tried reformer Pilates anywhere in Auckland, there's a good chance it was at Reform.
With nine locations across the city – Commercial Bay, Freemans Bay, Newmarket, Parnell, Mt Wellington, Takapuna, Birkenhead, Hobsonville, and Onehunga – Reform is the network that brought dynamic reformer Pilates to the mainstream in New Zealand.
Their signature 55-minute sessions are athletic, energetic, and seriously effective. Cardiolates and HIIT formats push things further for those who want their heart rate firmly in the red zone.
What Reform does best, beyond the classes, is consistency. No matter which studio you visit, the experience is reliably excellent with clean spaces, warm instructors and a community that keeps you coming back.
For those who travel around the city for work or life, Reform is the ultimate flexible fitness option.
Locations: Multiple across Auckland
Kenkō Studios – Eden Terrace
Walk up the spiral staircase into Kenkō and you'll immediately feel transported out of Auckland.
Housed in a renovated 1982 building on St Benedicts Street, this inner-city wellness collective has a Japandi aesthetic that I live for! The quietly luxurious meeting of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese elegance. It feels less like a gym and more like a sanctuary.
The class offering goes well beyond Pilates. Yoga, HIIT Pilates, guided meditation, Reiki-infused sound baths and breathwork classes fill the timetable.
High-quality mats, blocks, bolsters and restorative herbal tea are all provided.
The studio operates on a collaborative, profit-sharing model – and that values-led ethos is felt in everything here.
One standout perk: the Kenkō Urban Retreat, a beautifully designed studio apartment next door available to book. Roll out of bed and straight into class. Genuinely the dream.
Free street parking to the right makes it refreshingly easy to get to.
Location: 40 St Benedicts St, Eden Terrace
STRONG Pilates – Newmarket
Think Pilates isn't intense enough? STRONG is about to change your mind.
This studio fuses Pilates principles with rowing and strength training on a Rowformer machine. Slow, controlled Pilates movements. Weighted strength blocks. Bursts of cardio rowing. All of it.
The Newmarket studio has 24 Rowformer machines, generous open space and polished concrete floors. Classes follow 12-week progressive programming cycles, so you're always building and never bored.
Studio highlight: a dedicated beauty station with GHD hairdryers and straighteners. Yes, really. Plus, post-class eucalyptus ice towels round it out perfectly.
All fitness levels are welcome, and instructors scale everything to your needs. Available on ClassPass.
Location: 9 Melrose St, Newmarket
Core Collective – Auckland CBD
Widely regarded as the best reformer studio in Auckland – and with a loyal, vocal fanbase to back that up – Core Collective has made its home at City Works Depot, and it absolutely earns the hype.
Their technique is built around authentic Pilates principles and deep muscle activation. The focus is on the quality of movement over speed, which means you leave every session feeling stronger, more aligned and genuinely accomplished.
The studio is spacious and light-filled, with intentionally wide spacing between reformers. This allows instructors to move freely, cue better and offer hands-on adjustments throughout class.
Classes run from beginner through to advanced. Postnatal and private sessions are available. Instructors are globally trained, fully certified, and consistently praised for their energy and care.
Intro offer: 5 classes for $70 over two weeks. Available on ClassPass.
Location: Shed 7A/90 Wellesley St West, Auckland CBD
Hi Yoga – Auckland CBD
Founded by Rebeckh – one of only 28 people globally with Master Yoga Teacher accreditation from the International Yoga Alliance – this Queen Street studio brings serious credentials. Rebeckh has been teaching for over 25 years, and it shows in every class.
Hi Yoga maintains a consistent 40°C for Hot Yoga and around 35°C for Hot HIIT Pilates. The latter is a standout: low-impact, high-intensity, 60 minutes and designed to work around a busy schedule.
Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Flow and advanced practices round out the timetable. Showers, lockers, mats and towels are all on-site. New members receive a free yoga mat to take home. Hi Yoga is the kind of studio where you feel welcome from the very first class.
Location: Level 2/125 Queen St, Auckland CBD there’s also one in Henderson. Opened only a few months ago for all westies to enjoy!
Auckland's Pilates scene has never been more exciting.
Whether it's the community warmth of Mii Studio, the contrast therapy rituals at Cora, the precision of Core Collective or the high intensity workouts at STRONG – every studio on this list offers something worth showing up for.
Most have intro packs or ClassPass availability, so there's nothing stopping you from trying a few and finding your perfect fit.
Your reformer era starts now.
