Take me back to the 50’s when air travel was like a red carpet.
The 1950’s rich and famous were possibly the most glamorous passengers the air has ever seen. They made an effort with hair and makeup, heels and hats were a must and fabulous luggage completed the look.
Now comparing that to travel today, and all I see are Lululemon tights taking the runway. While it’s a great advertisement for the brand, could we not make a little more effort for our airport looks?
With the travel season coming up and everyone’s Christmas annual leave booked in, I thought I’d share a few simple looks to ensure you’re a chic yet comfortable jet setter. And hey, you might even snag and upgrade!
VB proves that an all black outfit trumps them all. Sky-high heels aside this look would work well with a pair of stylish sneakers, and you could almost get away with wearing a pair of black leggings!
A jumpsuit is such an easy look to pull together. Priyanka’s off-duty look will make you appear pulled together without everyone knowing you threw it on 5 minutes before the Uber pulled up.
An oversized coat hides everything. I’m not completely against a chic activewear look beneath a structured coat & stand out runners to pull it all together. Stella’s opted for a cashmere jogger set which look with a statement handbag to draw your eye away from a plain outfit.
A soft two piece set with a bit of structure is my personal alternative to leggings. It gives off the illusion of thought and effort, especially with a slicked-back bun and sunnies to finish the look.
Cracking the tracksuit code, Jenner has opted for a jazzed up trouser so her comfy ensemble doesn’t look worn. Pair it with a structured sweater so you don’t loose the slimline effect.
Now, don’t freak out, I’m not suggesting you wear 10cm heels. However, if we take Gaga’s stretchy Skim’s dress and pair it was a toned-down trench coat & sneakers, you’re bound to be comfy and stylish the entire flight. A change of shoes and you’re ready to go out as soon as you land!
Rosie proves that you can’t go past your favourite pair or jeans and a white shirt. Even while travelling this look is a classic - and bonus, these pieces can be worn again and again on your trip to save some baggage space!
Even though I’m pretty sure Emily is wearing a workout bodysuit, this outfit is all about the blazer. She looks super chic, especially with her gold accessories which add an extra touch. Enjoy to get an upgrade? We think it could pass!
