The hunt for the best swimsuit brands could leave you drowning in a sea of choices.
While it's taken this country a little longer to truly heat up and bring us that summertime energy we've been craving, that doesn't mean we can't be excited for the season. With that extra cash we banked over the Christmas break, maybe now is our time to refresh the swimwear closet. I am pumped to be headed for Bali at the end of the month, and if you're lucky like me and counting down the days for that flight, maybe you need a pair of new swimmers to bring along with you. Nothing feels quite like a confidence-boosting set to rock around the pool bar for an entire evening.
With swimwear brands coming out of every corner on Instagram, we have compiled an all-in-one spot to begin your swimwear hauls. Some are new labels while others are oldies, but trust that there is something for everyone here. Whether you want more coverage and utilitarian features or less fabric and, well, intricate tan lines, we've got you covered. (But seriously, apply sunscreen!).
Through this study, I came across a few brands that have answered a problem women have been dealing with for their entire lives. Why do periods always show up when you're about to swim? That sneaky little f**ker always shows up right before a beach trip or pool day often leading to cancelled plans. Luckily, humans are incredible and have answered our prayers. Do you know how period pants, with their super-absorbent lining, can replace feminine hygiene projects? What if I told you that the same technology now exists for swimwear? It's true! So if you don't want your period to keep you from the fun, avoid it with brands like Awwa and Modibodi, who are also featured below.
The Australian staple brand Bamba Swim has been killing it on the swimwear/fashion scene for years. “Inspired by the 80s that birthed a generation of empowered women who showcased the true meaning of comfort in their own skin.” All pieces in Bamba’s collection are super flattering and incorporate cheeky cuts, bold colours to embody the 80’s aesthetics.
I discovered Gooseberry by seeing a gal go cliff jumping off the Amalfi coast in a stunning mint green one-piece suit. Every gal needs a one-piece suit in their life. fact. But finding one that’s flattering and fun can be pretty difficult. Gooseberry has an epic range of colours to pick from, and they are well-loved by so many. I bought this piece last summer, wore it to death, and she’s still my go-to. Highly recommend adding one of these to your swimwear drawer!
