Whether you're looking to create a seductive atmosphere or a concentrated setting for WFH… I’ve got one word for you - candles.
If you've ever thought, "Ugh, not another candle," you're either a) not someone I'd like to hang out with (sorry, not sorry), or b) lying. Because let's face it, there's no such thing as having too many candles. I'm not afraid to say that I'm a little obsessed with my candle collection. Candles are an excellent way to bring atmosphere — not to mention pleasant aromas — to any environment. Whether you're attempting to create a romantic atmosphere for a date night or just want to add a comfortable feel to your home office, candles are almost always the solution. Becoming obsessed with a new candle—and then telling everyone you know about it—is one of life's simplest joys, whether you like flowery, fruity, cosy, romantic, or highly opulent aromas. And in this (already bizarre) year of 2023, we could all use a little more happiness.
With that stated, I went ahead and compiled a list of the best-smelling candles on the market since as a post-perfume maker and current florist; my nose has been exposed to hundreds, if not thousands of fragrance notes and blends. Although it's easy to spend a lot of money on candles (sorry wallet), these options won't break the bank. Yes, you can get candles that smell great and make you feel fancy without spending a fortune. I've assembled a list of my all-time favourites (both new and old faves!) with notes ranging from amber, vanilla, and patchouli to leather, lavender, and bergamot.
Italian Fig Scented Candle
Though fig is not a fruit I enjoy in the edible sense, boy does it smell incredible. This blend’s top notes of fig, green apple, and strawberry are fresh, green, and delicious. Maison Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning Candle
The sheer delight of waking up in freshly cleaned, crumpled sheets with the sun on your skin inspired this collection. What I love is how the label of this one describes the scent as “memory in a candle”, which is absolutely true. Combining delicate lily of the valley and iris notes with fresh pear and orange blossom your space is going to be blessed by its soothing and comforting aroma. The Maison Margiela range can be a bit out of the dollar range for many so this may be the perfect step into the luxury of french perfumery.

Fred Candles Nectar
Nectar is a breath of fresh air and is passionately delicious. She sits quietly among the others, but her perfume is here to steal the show. Take it from me; this candle smells like that blissful moment when you finally return home after a long day in the sun eating sweet platters and mimosas. Just divine sweetness without being over the top.
