I passionately say I love them, and am constantly trying to convince my friends into investing. Wear to work, wear to events, wear on a date night with a cute top: bingo!
The burgeoning trouser trend has been spreading widely, and thanks to TikTok pushing the capsule wardrobe, I’m finally ‘in fashion.’
Something to note is my body shape. I’m a size 12 in NZ and have a bigger bottom/thigh area, with a smaller waist. So purchasing a perfectly fitting pair of pants the first time round is no easy feat. Having tried more black pants than I can count, and subsequently returning them, I’ve pulled the crème de la crème from my wardrobe to save you the hassle.
Feele Wide Leg Pleat Pant
I first purchased these pants in brown and since purchased them in the other two colours, yes they’re that good. For this price, you usually find the fabric is cheap, and won’t wear well, but it’s completely the opposite. These Feele pants are a thick tencel fabric (without feeling heavy) and feel luxurious.
If you have a similar body type to me, you’ll find they fit nicely around the thigh and bottom area without being too tight which is a huge tick for me.
The Frankie Shop Bea Suit Pant
I’m in love with everything Frankie Shop, especially as they don’t completely price you out of well-done tailoring. These pants became popular for a reason, they fit so well. Make sure you grab the matching blazer too!
Neon Heart Jaylee Pant
Low-rise is back! If you’re opting into the trend, look for classic shapes that will live on long past waist-band trends. These pants would look great styled with a shirt for the office, just as much as they would with sneakers and a vintage tee.
taylor Uncover Jean
You’ll be surprised when I say, these aren’t really jeans! They’re a soft stretch Italian cotton which gives you a jean look without actually spotting denim. The waist tie detailing is my favourite, giving them more of a pant look for all day wear!
Ruby Franka Pant
Highlighting your waist area is always flattering. Ruby’s made it easier with their V cut Franka pants. The shape cuts at all the right points, emphasising the smallest part of the body and drawing the eye down. Tuck in a white T-shirt, for an immediately elevated look. I also love Ruby’s inclusive sizing!
Harris Tapper Magda Trouser
If you’ve been searching for a statement highwaist, these are the pants. These pants are uber comfortable, and the ultra high waist gives the illusion of model-length legs, which is fabulous for us regular people.
Wixxi Loma Pants
My go-to in summer, satin pants somehow make every look put together. These are the ultimate black pants in my eyes, because of just how versatile they are. Over swimwear, white T-shirt and sneakers, or even with a pair of heels and a shirt for dinner out!
Camilla and Marc Sebastian Pant
While these are a little more on-trend than other classic pants, I’m really liking the turned down detailing of the waist band. Also for a pair of Camilla and Marc pants, these are a steal! For a fit on the hip, take your usual size. If you'd prefer a high-waisted look, size down.
Chosen by Tuchuzy Low Rise Suit Pant
Another epic pair of low-rise pants. Tuchuzy have launched their own label ‘Chosen’ which keeps going from strength to strength. The Low Rise Suit Pant look and feel high quality, but for a great price.
Aritzia Wilfred Effortless Pant
If you’re immersed in the world of TikTok, you’ll already be across these viral pants. It’s not hard to see why, with 17 colours, 10 sizes and three different lengths, Aritzia is really trying to cater to everyone. When you find a good pant, purchase it in every colour.
Zara Highwaisted Trouser 7901/532
Formally known as the darted trouser (a small tell I’ve been buying these for a while), these Zara pants have also been making the rounds on social media. They’ve got a great fit in the leg, especially for the gals with a smaller waist and bigger bottom/thigh area.
