We Put A 100% Vegan Purple Shampoo to the Test! A Review of the Pureology Strength Cure Best Blonde Collection

I was interested to see whether the Pureology Strength Cure Best Blonde could out-perfom my current favourite

Pureology have recently re-formulated two of their original ranges; Strength Cure and Perfect 4 Platinum, to create a protective toning set dubbed Pureology Strength Cure Best Blonde that provides essential nourishment as well as neutralisation of unwanted brassy tones.
First of all, I love that this product is 100% vegan and sulphate-free. HOWEVER, I am always a bit sceptical of the performance of more natural products, so I was interested to see whether this could out-perform my current favourite L’Oréal Blondifier range.
Pureology to the Test
I put it to the test one Thursday night, ahead of a weekend wedding. I was immediately impressed with how well the shampoo lathered – considering the absence of sulphates in the formula. This shampoo smelt delicious and it spread well throughout my medium-length hair. I concentrated most of the product on the ends of my hair, where I get most of my gold toned colour build-up. After a few moments, I rinsed and applied the conditioner to my mid-lengths and ends.
I blow-dried my hair as normal and loved the result – my light blonde hair was soft and my colour bright and clear. Although not the strongest toning result, I do need to tread carefully with my porous hair so I was happy to have a subtle effect. I look forward to using this range ongoing to see if it preserves the colour in my hair for longer. Sulphates are known to strip colour molecules - resulting in flat, lifeless tones.
The Verdict
Strength Cure Best Blonde also comes with a Miracle Filler treatment. I applied a few sprays of this to my ends and blow dried it in. I didn’t love the result as it tended to make my hair look greasy when I straightened it, and it didn’t have that lightweight-feel that I prefer. This is disappointing as it has the toning-properties of the shampoo while providing heat-protection so it really would be the perfect partner to this range! My hair is quite fine though, so others may not have this problem.
Overall, I would highly recommend the shampoo and conditioner. I love the inclusion of coconut oil, coriander seed oil and sunflower oils for added nourishment that don’t weigh down my hair, while providing a comparable toning effect to competitor brands that contain the colour-stripping sulphates.
