I consider myself somewhat of a tinted lip balm (maniac) connoisseur, and it's been my passion since I was like, 6. Although, now I can say that my tastes have refined since my lip-smacker days.
What makes a great tinted lip balm, you ask? Hydration and an even splash of juicy colour. It sounds easy, but it's not. It is so common for tinted lip balms to be streaky, often grabbing at the dry skin and creating an unflattering effect on the lips. All the lip balms I mention today will not have this issue, and I will mainly discuss the unique features of each product. Just know the fundamental core elements that make a great tinted lip balm will be present in every lip balm mentioned below.

Nars Afterglow Lip Balm

You know that hypnotising minis aisle at MECCA? Yeah, that's where I came across this little gem, and it is proof that impulse-buying is a good thing.
The Dr Lipp Lip Tint comes in a tube, so it's not your traditional bullet formula. At first use, it felt a little unfamiliar because of how thick it is, but once it melts into your lips, that feeling goes away. In any case, it just looks really shiny and completely envelops your lips in a protective layer of lanolin.
The shade ‘Elderberry’ is the perfect shade of vintage berry while 'Sweet Potato' is a brighter raspberry pink. The tint is very subtle, so it makes your lips look naturally plump and healthy - great for those no-makeup days or the gym.
I love this with a nude-brown lip liner for a MLBB (my lips but better) look and it's the ultimate handbag staple.
The lower price point also makes this perfect as a lip balm to keep in your car!

If you love the idea of the Nars Afterglow, but you consider yourself to have extra dry lips - this is the one to go for.

You know those tinted lip balms that go bright pink after a while? Well, you don't have to worry about that issue with Bobbi Brown.

The Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm by Westman Atelier is encased in the most beautiful lux packaging. If you have an aristocratic flair to your style, not only will this lip balm meet your aesthetic needs, but it will also make sure your lips look lavish and luscious.
The liquid formula means absolutely no tugging on the lips whatsoever - great for extra dry lips. Also, if you live in an especially cold or windy climate, this lip balm won't freeze up in your bag and become difficult to apply. On the flip side, if you live in scorching hot weather, and your issue is that every lip balm just deteriorates - it just means you need to get a liquid lip balm with an applicator and a lid as opposed to a stick or tube.
Squeaky Clean is buttery, silky, and completely non-sticky - all thanks to jojoba oil, almond oil, argan oil, and shea butter. On top of that, it has excellent cosmetic value as the colours are just drop-dead gorgeous - pinks, cranberries, and plums.

Hourglass No.28 Treatment Oil
This one is for the guys and gals who just cannot find a nourishing and pigmented lip product. I'm including this option for those who love a thicker consistency, glossy finish, and a stronger hue of colour.
Me, oh my. This item is for all of you boujee's out there! The Hourglass lip treatment oil features a 24-carat gold plated tip, making it anti-bacterial and soothing for the lips.
The formula is infused with vitamin E, which is superb for moisture retention and lip barrier restoration. The oils are derived from lipid plants such as rosemary, sunflower, and clove, which explains the herbal scent that I thoroughly enjoy.
This product may not be for you if you cannot stand even the slightest amount of stickiness. I'm a gloss lover, so it doesn't bother me.
Personal favourite shades are 'Cameo,' 'Nocturnal,' and 'Bare.'

Mecca Tinted Lip De Luscious SPF 25
If you have really pigmented lips that need a little dialling down, the Mecca tinted Lip De Luscious in 'Nude' will most likely steal your heart.
This is a pot formula and the consistency is creamy with a moderately pigmented colour pay off. The nude is a beautiful shade that will counteract the pigment in your lips while giving you a glossy pout.
The Lip De Luscious features vitamin E and shea butter with the added benefit of SPF.

Ilia Balmy Gloss Tinted Oil
For all you natural folk out there, Ilia has got all the solutions that are eco-friendly and ingredient conscious.
As soon as Ilia came out with this lippie, I knew it would be a banger. It retains all of the lovely qualities of the oils mentioned today, but it has a balmy and light texture.
Packed with meadowfoam oil and hyaluronic acid, this product is particularly great for people who suffer from severe dehydration. One of my favourite products to use on my body is meadowfoam oil, so this was really nice to know.
If you love that glassy lip look, but you don't like a heavy consistency - give Ilia Balmy Gloss Tinted Oil a go.
My favourite shade is ‘Tahiti,’ - a tropical warm coral with a hint of pink.

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil
I left my favourite for last. Let me introduce to you the Clarins Lip Comfort Oil. Luminous, fruity, fresh shades with an ultra glossy finish. This is the queen of tinted lippies.
Formulated with plant oils and fruit extracts, Lip Comfort Oil fulfils the Clarins ethos - part skincare and part makeup creations. With nearly 2500 reviews on the Clarins website and an average of 4.5 stars - you know it's going to be good.
I will warn you, however, that this does not do well in the wind. It is admittedly stickier than the other options, but sticky also means long-lasting. I find it rather annoying when I have to reapply my lip balm every 10 minutes - I'd rather not, thank you.
