We put Huda’s latest launch to the test and here’s why this mattifying mist might be the one that finally replaces your powder.

Blurs like a filter, sets like a pro and lasts all day — meet the setting spray that’s rewriting the rules.

It’s not often that a setting spray gets the beauty community talking—but when Huda Beauty launches a new complexion product, the industry listens. Known for delivering high-performance formulas that blur the line between makeup and technology, Huda’s latest drop, Easy Bake Setting Spray, is no exception. Promising up to 16 hours of wear, oil control, hydration and pore-blurring magic, this isn’t your average finishing mist. As someone who’s tried more setting sprays than I can count, I was curious to see if this one would actually live up to the hype, or just leave my skin feeling tight and sticky.

The Science

The first thing to note is the formula. Unlike many setting sprays on the market, this one is alcohol-free and fragrance-free — two common culprits behind skin irritation, especially for sensitive skin types. Instead, it leans into a more skincare-first approach, packed with niacinamide to balance oil and soothe the skin, five types of hyaluronic acid for hydration and a surprising hero ingredient: rice starch.

While rice starch is commonly seen in powder formulations for its oil-absorbing properties, its use in a setting spray is relatively new — and surprisingly effective, not gimmicky. In this liquid format, it creates a soft-matte finish that truly mimics the velvety look of a pressed setting powder, helping to blur the appearance of pores and extend the wear of your base without piling on more product. If you're someone who hates the feel of powder but still craves that filtered finish, this delivers exactly that in a weightless mist. It gives the spray its signature soft-focus effect that visibly smooths the skin without making you appear flat.

The mist itself is ultra-fine and lightweight — while some people online had problems with the mist, I didn’t experience any issues with the spray. It dries down quickly, and almost instantly with a noticeable smoothing effect like a soft veil that sets everything in place.

Worth the Hype?

Performance-wise, the Easy Bake Setting Spray delivers. I tested it through a long day of back-to-back meetings, a humid afternoon commute, and a late night movie — and my makeup did not budge. My T-zone stayed remarkably matte and my foundation looked as fresh at 9 p.m. as it did that morning. That said, I do have drier skin during the colder months, and I noticed the formula felt just a touch tight by the end of the day. It wasn’t uncomfortable per se, but something to keep in mind if you lean dry like I do. For oilier skin types, though? This could be the ultimate dream setting spray that keeps your shine in check all day long.

If you're someone who wants your makeup to go the distance without sacrificing comfort or compromising your skincare, Huda’s new setting spray might just be your next holy grail. It’s functional and effective.

Huda’s Easy Bake Setting Spray isn’t just another mist — it’s a makeup-extending, skin-blurring essential that actually delivers. The rice starch gives a velvety, soft-matte finish that rivals your favourite powder, minus the extra step. If you’ve got oilier skin or struggle with makeup longevity, this could easily become your new go-to.
