Santal 33 is considered as one of the best and most popular fragrances ever made. Worn by the likes of Justin Bieber, Alexa Chung and Ryan Reynolds, Santal 33 has a cult following by many others around the world.
What makes this fragrance incredibly unique is the woody charm that has a soft powdery sparkle. Additionally, the juxtaposition of cardamom and amber also brings a sweeping aromatic vibe to Santal 33.
Although many perfumeries have attempted to dupe this master of a fragrance, it hasn’t been too successful. However, we have searched high and low to find an accessible option that is comparable to the quality and performance of Le Labo perfumes. Much like Frederic Malle, A.N OTHER is unique to other perfumeries because they surrender complete control over the fragrance to the nose themselves. This means that each creation from A.N OTHER is an authentic creation that is personal to the composer themselves. Built upon their years of experience or based on some distant memory, each fragrance is bursting with personality.
WD/2018 Parfum was created by Patricia Bilodeau and focuses on the tranquil and nourishing qualities of the sandalwood. The top note of pear, cardamom spice and violet leaf welcomes the wearer with a distinct and uplifting introduction. At the heart, orris, amyris and cypress harbours warmth and spice. Finally, sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver form the strong woody foundation of this multifaceted fragrance.

WD/2018 Parfum is an excellent dupe for the coveted Santal 33. It possesses the same powdery qualities at the perfect amount with violet sitting at the top along with cardamom. Similarly, WD/2018 Parfum also utilises cypress, orris and amyris in order to create the same aromatic feel as the papyrus and amber in Santal 33.
At the base, both fragrances utilise the main character, sandalwood. However, instead of leather, WD/2018 Parfum decided on vetiver. Vetiver is known for its peppery and leathery qualities. As such, it makes for a great substitution as it creates the lasting impression of this Santal 33 Dupe.
