There’s nothing like a bold lip. Level up your lip wardrobe with these lively, confident and vivid lippies.
Now that mask mandates are coming to a halt, it’s time to bring out the lipsticks. Oh, how I missed wearing bold lips. If you have been feeling the same way and you’re on the lookout for the hottest lipsticks to show your excitement, you are in the right place!
Here are the top 5 bold and bright lipsticks where I share the best hot pinks, reds, oranges and more.
M.A.C: All Fired Up
Everyone needs at least five shades in their lipstick wardrobe: Red, brown, pale nude, coral or pink and a hot pink. With these shades, you can customise almost any shade you are looking for. A diverse collection doesn’t necessarily mean owning a million shades, it’s about owning the right shades. With that being said, All Fired Up is a lipstick that everybody needs to try.
All Fired Up lipstick by M.A.C holds a dear place in my heart. A deep yet hot magenta pink, this lipstick is barbiecore meets modern chic. If you are looking for a lippie that is more than your usual red, this is the way to go.
All Fired Up is part of the Retro Matte collection. As you can expect, the formula is ultra pigmented, silky smooth and incredibly long lasting. Pair with a laid back eye or a clean black wing for the ultimate brightening makeup look that is eye-catching and glamorous.
Rare Beauty: Gifted
On the hunt for a mocha chocolate brown with the perfect kick of burgundy? The Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lipstick in the shade Gifted is a dreamy blend of rich browns, bricks and plums. This magical composition results in the most universal brown that is bound to create a statement no matter the wearer.
I love when brands come out with their own interpretation of the classic bullet lipstick. Even though there are so many other formulas on the market that I just adore, nothing beats a good old fashioned lipstick that you can swipe on and go. The Rare Beauty Kind Words Lipstick is a great example of an oldie but a goodie. A hydrating and long-wearing formula in a huge range of beautiful and bold neutrals - Gifted is truly a stunner.
Pair with the matching lip liner, also in the shade Gifted, for a bulletproof and timeless brown lip makeup look.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick No. 52
The YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick no. 52 has been a global favourite ever since Jun Ji-Hyun wore this shade in her world-hit series ‘My Love From Another Star.’ Sold out for years, this lipstick is now comfortably available for everyone who is craving a bright coral shade that is perfect for spring and summer.
A touch of neon takes this lipstick to the next level. Although it might seem intimidating, the Rouge Pur Couture lipstick formulas are buildable so that you can wear this shade at the intensity that you prefer. It’s a unique shade that is different from a red or burgundy and adds brightness to your complexion and smile.
Pair it with a bronze smokey eye or a clean black wing for the ultimately chic bright lip makeup look.

Fenty: Zestie Bestie
Lip stains have two purposes. Firstly, they are a great option for layering beneath your lipstick to increase the longevity of your lip makeup. Secondly, they provide a certain type of glow and blurry quality to the lips for that popsicle stain effect. Although I tend to seek my lip stain products from k-beauty brands, the Fenty Hydrating Poutsicle Lip Stain has become a current favourite that is super nourishing and deliciously bright.
Personally, the shade Zestie Bestie has taken over my world with its unique orange hue. Don’t be intimidated by its unusual undertone, orange lipsticks are much more wearable than you think! An alternative to the red, an orange is youthful and energetic. Particularly dynamic with white outfits, Zestie Bestie is a must have if you love to rock white or denim clothing.
Rose Inc: Poised
The Rose Inc Satin Lip Colour Rich Refillable Lipstick is a current favourite formula of mine. Packed with moisturising and protecting ingredients to smooth and plump your lips, the shade Poised is bound to give that bold lipstick confidence boost.
Nothing is worse than a dry and shrivelled bold lip. If you suffer from particularly dry lips or you hate the feeling of a matte formula, the Rose Inc Satin Lip Colour Rich Lipsticks are an obvious choice. Although most of the shades are neutral and everyday appropriate, Poised is one of the few that is unique and adventurous. This is especially true if you are just beginning your journey into the realm of bright and bold lips.
Poised is an elegant berry shade that has a touch of brick. It is hard to put my finger on the exact colour as it has a transformative effect depending on the wearer (as most shades do). However, Poised is truly a chameleon that takes on the undertones of the person who puts it on. I believe it is due to the unusual warmth of this brick berry shade. In any case, this lipstick is charming and sophisticated!

Bonus: The Best Red Lip Ever…
Although I wanted to use this time to hero many of the underappreciated bright lipsticks, it felt wrong of me not to mention a red lippie. Afterall, the red lip is superior to all the bright lipsticks: confident, ageless and simply timeless.
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade Beso is an undefeated red. It’s my go-to lipstick for when I need that boost of confidence and it is especially striking with an all black outfit. Ever so slightly warm in undertone, Beso is still a neutral leaning red with a subtle touch of neon that adds an abundance of brightness to the complexion.
Despite the formula being a liquid lipstick, one thin layer will fully coat the lips and last quite a few hours without any discomfort- even if you are talking all day. In fact, I wear it to work every once in a while and it never creates any issues for me. Just reapply after lunch and you’re good to go for the rest of the day.
