It’s Official, Dermaviduals Is the Marie Kondo of Skincare
BY JENNY JUNG
This will change everything you think you know about skincare.

30 MAR - 2026
How I went from 50+ skincare products to just 4.
For years, my skincare routine was a revolving door of trending serums, exfoliating acids and new launches. I mean, can you blame me? Not only am I the perfect victim of consumerism (I love shopping), but I also work in the beauty industry, which is essentially the perfect recipe for disaster.
Honestly though, I invite you to take a moment and look back at your own skincare routine and try and think about why you have made certain purchasing decisions. For years we have been sold this idea that we have to exfoliate and exfoliate and exfoliate to “make space for new cells” or to “get rid of dead skin cells.” And we believed it.
Over the last few years, I have tried my best to rewire my brain into loving and embracing nourishing skincare products in an attempt to repair the very real damage to my skin barrier. I have a feeling many people born in the ’90s are on the same journey, especially after our collective era of intense exfoliation (looking at you, The Ordinary Peeling Solution… yikes).
While my skin was slowly starting to benefit from this shift, it did not solve my bigger issue: constantly buying new products and overfilling my skincare cabinet.
Then, this year, my prayers were answered. I had been dying to try dermaviduals ever since Sophie, my editor, told me about the magic of her personalised routine designed entirely around skin barrier recovery. In fact, every time I visit her house, I redo my skincare using her products just to manifest getting my own set of dermaviduals products one day.
And as of January 1, 2026, that finally happened. My very own routine arrived from dermaviduals and I could not wait to see what would happen when my skincare shelf went from overflowing… to just four products.
I have got to say, the fact that I no longer have to worry about the “next best thing” or all the different skincare trends has not only decluttered my routine, but my mind! It feels incredibly refreshing and I truly experienced the Marie Kondo effect: the quiet joy of keeping only what actually serves you.
I know this was a super long ramble, but let me introduce you to the star of the show: The EGCG Serum by dermaviduals. It’s what they call the Marie Kondo of Serums, and in a moment, you’re going to find out why.

After my dermaviduals routine

Before my dermaviduals routine.
Corneotherapy
I am by no means a skincare expert, but I learned so much from Sandra, the skincare consultant who walked me through the dermaviduals journey. The process actually begins with a very detailed assessment that, honestly, felt a little like therapy. She asked about everything from my lifestyle and stress levels to how much sleep I get and whether I drink enough water. At the end of the day, skincare does not exist in isolation. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it reflects what is happening internally.
Sandra also introduced me to the core philosophy behind Dermaviduals, which is rooted in something called corneotherapy.
In simple terms, corneotherapy focuses on repairing and supporting the stratum corneum, which is the outermost layer of the skin. For years, this layer was dismissed as nothing more than a pile of “dead” skin cells that needed to be removed through constant exfoliation. But modern research shows that this layer is actually incredibly important. It acts as the skin’s protective shield, regulating moisture, defending against irritation and helping maintain overall skin balance.
Once you understand that, the philosophy behind Dermaviduals suddenly makes a lot more sense. Instead of aggressively stripping the skin, the goal is to support and repair this barrier so it can do the job it was designed to do.
This completely changed my outlook. For years, we have been conditioned to believe that the secret to good skin is getting rid of every possible “dead” skin cell. But what if the real goal is not to remove the barrier, but to protect it? Mind blown.

EGCG Serum
At the moment, my entire skincare lineup consists of just four products: a cream cleanser, the EGCG Liposomes, a base gel and SPF 30. Just one serum. Morning and night. How incredible is that?
The reason this serum does so much of the heavy lifting comes down to its key ingredient: EGCG.
One of its most interesting benefits of this do-it-all serum is that it supports the production of filaggrin, a protein that helps improve skin thickness and strengthen the skin barrier. When the skin lacks filaggrin, it can become irritated, dry, red or prone to breakouts. By supporting this process, the EGCG serum helps the skin rebuild and maintain a healthier, stronger barrier.
Over time, this also helps protect important structural proteins like collagen and elastin, improves moisture retention and supports overall skin resilience.
In simple terms, rather than constantly trying to strip the skin and start over, this serum helps your skin become stronger, thicker and better at protecting itself.
I always thought that because I had dry skin, I needed to pile on layer after layer of skincare. But in reality, I was not targeting any real concerns. With the EGCG serum, my routine suddenly feels far more intentional and it has genuinely made me look forward to doing my skincare every day.
Furthermore, as someone who wears makeup often, one of my biggest concerns was dryness and creasing throughout the day. But since starting my dermaviduals routine, I genuinely do not experience that anymore. If anything, it has been a reminder that great makeup really does start with great skin prep.
In a beauty industry that often encourages us to keep adding more, Dermaviduals quietly makes the case for doing less. And much like Marie Kondo’s philosophy, once you strip away the excess and keep only what truly works, everything suddenly feels a lot simpler.
Sometimes, the best skincare routine is simply the one that stops you from needing another serum.
