Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Collection – The Holy Grail of Foundations
BY REBECCA DIEUDONNE
Can you believe that I had never actually tried any Guerlain products before. It was one of those elusive French brands that I just never had ready access to.
28 JAN - 2019
I blame my career-obsessed twenties for never having an OE in Europe, really. After reading the product promises from the brand website, the precedent is set high (to say the least!).
They claim that Lingerie de Peau is “so skin-fusing and natural that it can’t be felt, can’t be seen. Its fresh, light texture glides onto the contours of the face like a second skin to enhance beauty naturally, without artifice, all day long.”
From the luxurious heavy packaging, and lightly perfumed scent, to the satin-like second skin feel of the foundation itself – it was love at first sight…
Météorites Base
To prep my skin for the foundation, I applied Météorites Base, which is a skin-perfecting and anti-dullness primer. It has a beautiful gel-like texture which spreads easily across your skin. The formula is infused with micro-spheres containing diamond dust which illuminate and brighten the skin, providing a naturally radiant glow. It absorbs quickly, and provides the most amazing base for the foundation by removing excess sebum and lightly mattifying the skin. While it looks pink in the bottle, the primer applies clear with a pearlescent finish and dries down without any shininess that could accentuate puffiness or larger pores. I use one pump for my whole face.
I have oily-combination skin with dry patches – Météorites Base doesn’t increase my oiliness, but also hydrates my drier areas so well! I honestly cannot recommend this primer enough. It is the most impressive primer I have ever used and provides the most amazing base for the Natural Fusion Foundation – it glides over the skin, melting in to a flawless second-skin finish which lasts all day (we’re talking 10 hours plus).
Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Natural Perfection Fluid Foundation SPF 20
While the foundation is described as a light, buildable foundation on other reviews online, it was definitely full-medium coverage for me paired with the primer. It is truly long-wearing and deeply pigmented. It completely neutralised any redness I had with just a thin layer. I wear shade 03N Naturel – it’s true to tone and doesn’t oxidise. I like to apply this with my fingertips, and it blends seamlessly.
It has a lightweight texture, and your skin feels so comfortable and hydrated for 10 hours plus. It’s tricky to explain the feel of it – but it’s almost elastic? It moulds to your skin and becomes a natural extension, fusing with the contours of your face without drying, creasing or settling into pores. Skin Fusion is a very accurate description for how this foundation feels.
It has that signature Guerlain scent which I am quickly becoming obsessed with. It’s a soft, powdery rose and jasmine, blended into white musk and balsamic that isn’t too sweet or over powering – it just smells expensive, quite honestly. The foundation holds my blush, contour and highlight well and is a perfect colour match for my skin. It has no flashback despite being SPF 20, and I didn’t get any breakouts (I was surprised to read some people did – could be the silicon or fragrance in the formula, as this can aggravate sensitive skin).

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Compact Mat Alive Foundation
To keep my oilier t-zone in check, I used a light dusting of the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Compact Mat Alive Foundation to mattify throughout the day, but compared to other formulas I didn’t need to powder as often or apply as much.
This powder is a beautiful addition to the collection – it contains porous silca which absorbs excess sebum for a longwearing matte effect. With other powders, I feel like I have to re-apply almost every hour, but this one goes the distance. As with the rest of the Lingerie range – this powder is feather-light, melting into the skin to become impenetrable. I find its best applied with a medium-sized brush (not the pad it comes with) for a stunningly natural finish.
Welcome to my new holy-grail foundation combo! This is one of those occasions where you get what you pay for, and you can definitely tell the difference between cheaper alternatives and the quality of this prestige collection. It is 100% worth the investment.
