Gen Z Approved Beauty Products That I Borrow (Steal) From My Little Sister
BY JENNY JUNG
I’ll never let her know this, but my Gen Z little sister has some of the best beauty recommendations ever.

We can learn a thing or two from Gen Z, especially when it comes to beauty.
Today, I’ll be dedicating this piece to my little sister, Grace, who has introduced me to so many incredible beauty products that have now become staples in my collection. Anybody with siblings can relate to the childhood mystery of vanishing items, which invariably led back to their sticky fingers. These days, the tables have turned, and I find myself creeping into her beauty stash to see what’s new and hot.
Generation Z is revolutionising beauty standards, celebrating uniqueness and setting new trends that have captivated the entire industry. I think it's time we recognise their influential role in reshaping conventional beauty ideals and putting globally-loved products on the map.
Despite my beauty editor status, it seems my sister has a knack for identifying the best-rated products better than I do. With that being said, I’m here to share her Gen Z approved beauty favourites – let’s go!
Fino Hair Mask
The Fino Hair Mask has become a viral sensation on TikTok, promising to seal split ends and boost shine. This nourishing formula is perfect for anybody suffering with dull and fragile hair that needs an instant refresh. The result is hair that not only looks healthier but feels softer.
You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on a haircare routine if you get the right things. The Fino Hair Mask ranges from $20-$30, depending on where you shop! That means you can get salon-quality treatment without the hefty price tag. The accessibility of this product has made it a popular choice among gen z and beauty enthusiasts alike, who are always on the lookout for high-quality, budget-friendly beauty products.
Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Toner: AHA + BHA
For those who are eager to experience the exfoliating benefits of AHAs and BHAs but concerned about skin sensitivity, the Beauty of Joseon offers a gentle, hydrating and nourishing solution. The Green Plum Refreshing Toner: AHA + BHA combines 25% green plum water and 2% mungbean extract with AHAs and BHAs for the perfect balance.
This innovative formulation ensures a soothing experience that enriches the skin with moisture while gently removing dead skin cells. The result? Bright and radiant skin without the irritation. In fact, my sister, who deals with eczema, has found it to be compatible with her sensitive skin! It is now my go-to toner that I use day and night.
Refy Face Primer
One day, when my sister and I were getting ready together, I saw her pull out an interesting contraption. It was a sleek tube with a roller applicator. Curious, I examined it after she was done with it, discovering it was from Refy. This innovative product immediately piqued my interest with its unique design. Having tried it a few times, I can only describe it to be similar to the Milk Hydro-Grip, but with more hydration and less of a sticky feel.
This primer is a skincare hybrid that creates a sticky-ish base by utilising niacinamide to create that grippy base. The facial roller is an added plus for ease of application with a cooling effect. According to my sister, the Refy Face Primer is the best for smooth foundation application and enhanced longevity. I suggest giving it a go if you’re feeling experimental with your primer game!
Refy, Face Primer, $51 NZD.
NYX Brow Glue
The NYX Brow Glue is difficult to find here in New Zealand. However, I highly recommend you grab as many as you can if you ever come across it. As someone with thicker eyebrows, it’s so hard to find a brow gel that can hold its weight without looking cakey or heavy.
When my sister visited the states a few years back, she brought back the NYX Brow Glue as a gift, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Affordable, accessible (unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere– what's new) and high performing, this is one of the best brow gels I have ever used!
Rom&nd Lip Glasting Melting Balm #07 Mauve Whip
According to my sister, the Romand Lip Glasting Melting Balm is a $19 dupe for the highly regarded Hourglass Phantom Volumising Glossy Balm. Although it isn’t exactly the same, this K-beauty alternative is juicy, shiny and perfectly transparent. If you don’t want to drop $65 on lipstick, definitely head over to your nearest Hikoco to take a look.
Having a selection of shades from both lines, I find they’re ideal for quick touch-up lippies that effectively refreshes your lips when you are out and about.
Rom&nd Lip Mate Pencil #05 Taupey Shade
Grace is a huge fan of the Rom&nd Lip Mate Pencil #05 Taupey Shade for effortlessly contouring the lips and creating the perfect base for all her lip looks. This formula strikes the perfect balance between smudge-ability and long-wearing durability. Moreover, it is super affordable and accessible for those seeking high quality makeup without having to break the bank.
If you are into the K-beauty lip gradients or you are looking for the perfect fair-medium toned nude lip liner - shade #05 is the way to go.
One/Size Cheek Clapper 3D Blush Trio Attention Seeker
If you ever meet my sister, the first thing you’re probably going to notice is her blush. She is a huge fan of pink blush and I am often browsing through her collection to see what she’s been using to achieve that flawless, bright and radiant flush.
Lately, she’s been devoted to her One/Size Cheek Clapper 3D Blush Trio in the shade Attention Seeker. This 3-shade palette features a creamy, matte and shimmer finish, unlocking versatile looks for every occasion. Attention Seeker, in particular, creates the perfect shade of bubblegum Gen-z pink.
Conclusion:
That is a wrap! Hope you enjoyed reading about my little sister’s favourite beauty products that are Gen Z approved.
Should we write part 2? Let us know if you have any siblings and what you’ve loved from their beauty stash. We would love to know!
