“Not quite lipstick, not quite a gloss.”
Even though Black Honey was first released in 1971, the recent campaigns have been super successful on IG and TikTok. It just goes to show that a high-performing product will never go out of style if it is done right.
If you didn’t know, the Black Honey Almost Lipstick by Clinique is famous for its universal deep raisin shade that transforms on every wearer. Whether you have pale or deep skin, Black Honey is an uplifting shade that brings life and colour to the lips. Furthermore, it is incredibly lightweight and easy to wear due to its ‘almost lipstick’ formula that is soft, hydrating and sheer.
Recently, Clinique released the beautiful Pink Honey Almost Lipstick and we are just in love! A universal pink shade - Pink Honey is beautifully sheer and transparent with just the right amount of pigment for an everyday MLBB lip!
Black Honey
Did you know that Clinique developed Black Honey by carefully blending the right amounts of blue, red and yellow pigments? By using clever colour theory, Black Honey has the benefit of transforming on the wearer depending on their skin tones. As a result, the universality claim checks out as it looks absolutely fabulous on everybody - try it out for yourself!
Furthermore, Clinique claims that the blue pigments work to make your teeth look whiter, while the combination of red and yellow pigments improves the natural shade of your lips!
Pink Honey
In 2022, Clinique welcomed a new member to the Almost Lipstick family and she's called Pink Honey. It’s an extremely sophisticated shade of pink that has the perfect neutral base. As a result, this is a pink that is modern, fresh and versatile. Additionally, the creamy balm formula makes Pink Honey easy to wear and it barely feels like anything on the lips.
We wanted to test the neutral shade claim to make sure we can truly recommend this as an everyday appropriate lipstick. In doing so, we wore Pink Honey with a warm bronze smokey eye and a classic black smokey eye. The results? We loved how it seamlessly complemented the two different looks with absolute ease. We can definitely affirm that Pink Honey is indeed a true neutral shade that brings out the best of any makeup look of your choice.
Which One Should You Choose?
At the end of the day, both shades are truly universally flattering on any skin tone. However, we understand that different people have strict preferences for what kind of lip products they like to use. In light of this, we have tried to find the most simple formula to help you decide which Almost Lipstick to choose.
If you are a brown, burgundy or deep nude lipstick lover, you should opt for Black Honey. On the other hand, if you love bright lipsticks like peaches, reds, pinks or oranges, you would really enjoy the Pink Honey. In my case, I love combining the two colours together for a softened burgundy vibe. I hope Clinique releases an in between shade one day!
