Calvin Klein Women EDP Review
BY REBECCA DIEUDONNE
The newest fragrance, Calvin Klein ‘Women,’ is the perfect accompaniment to wear with an oversized white shirt, tucked into jeans and fashioned with a headscarf in true 90s chic.
29 JAN - 2019
Calvin Klein is synonymous with the decade that brought us tiny sunglasses and bags à la Bella Hadid.
It’s a fresh scent with a familiar nod to CK fragrances of the past.
To categorise it into a fragrance family, Calvin Klein Women would go under a floral woody musk. The top notes are eucalyptus, black pepper, bergamot and zesty grapefruit and lemon. These blend into middling orange blossom, magnolia, jasmine, hedione (another jasmine-like scent), raspberry and tea. The fragrance is rounded through base notes of cedar, violet, white musk and ambroxan (has the effect of a clean and powdery scent, like clean laundry). You will like it if you enjoyed fragrances like CK One or Issey Miyake L’Eau D’Issey.
The fragrance was created by Honorine Blanc (Ralph Lauren and YSL) and Annick Mernado (Dior and Diesel) under the helm of Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons.
#IAMWOMAN
The campaign champions iconic women and celebrates heroines of contemporary culture. It features Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Brooklyn and Ladybird) who are recognised for their strength and unique talent, both on and off screen.
The advertising campaign encourages women to pay homage to the supportive females in their lives by posting images alongside the hashtag #IAMWOMEN.
Made of a pale pink liquid, the juice is housed in a clear glass bottle. It features an acrylic disc attached to the lid, which shows a feminine eye.
The bottle was co-designed by Raf Simons and artist Anne Collier (who is the director of campaign).
CK Women would be perfect as an everyday scent, and I think it would be well suited to most seasons owing to the crisp, freshness of the fragrance.
