Are You A Bella Bot Or A Matilda Minion?
BY SOPHIA TRIMBLE
It’s no secret there are two main girlies running fashion in this town. The two icons being none other than Bella Hadid and Matilda Djerf.

Here’s how some of the most influential fashionistas in the western world right now are running the fashion industry.
Bella Hadid and Matilda Djerf girls are the ‘it’ girls of the moment and have a chokehold on pretty much the whole fashion industry. They wear it, we see it, we want it, we buy it. It’s truly as simple as that.
Isabella (Bella) Hadid, is a 26 year old American supermodel. Bella has appeared on international covers of Vogue at least 27 times and is known for her off-duty Y2K inspired street style.
At only 25, Matilda Djerf is a Swedish born business owner, fashion model and social media influencer. Her business? Selling clothes of course. Djerf Avenue was started by Matilda in 2019 and has a focus on laidback, chic basics.
Bella bot and Matilda minion... What may seem like just a clever collection of alliteration to someone unsuspecting (who doesn't share the same fashion echo chamber as me) are actually titles, naming which fashionista you follow.
I hadn’t even heard of these terms let alone thought about this concept until user @DestinyDeyro on TikTok made the viral video captioned, “Bella bots vs Matilda minions” where she states all you have to do is people watch in New York as adolescent women walk by and you’ll be able to pick up if they’re a Bella bot or Matilda minion in seconds.
Bella and Matilda, we love you. Who is the fashion icon behind your signature style?
Matilda Djerf’s style is oversized blazers, claw clips, long blonde bouncy blowouts, clean girl aesthetic, relaxed trousers with a more tailored vibe. On the other end of the style spectrum, Bella Hadid can be found wearing a variety of mini skirts, loafers, quirky sunglasses, and under the knee boots.
Personally, I identify as a Bella Bot as I love to indulge in a micro mini skirt, teeny little Y2K crop top, and a good pair of low waisted jeans whereas my best friend is a hardcore Matilda Minion. She has the side sweepy curtain bangs and voluminous blow waved layers, can’t resist a good blazer, and is barely ever seen without a claw clip somewhere on her person.
Here’s where to find Bella and Matilda inspired pieces:
There is nothing that screams Y2K like a midi denim skirt, especially if it's low rise, and a bit faded. ‘About You’ has finally released their collab with Bella Hadid herself, so you can now shop pieces that Bella dreamed up!
A good zip-up jacket seems to be a piece that Bella tends to reach for often. Going for a plain colour like navy blue will allow this garment to be more versatile and work its magic in your wardrobe!
Miss Bella is the queen of a chic wee loafer. Hadid is often spotted by the paps donning a sneaker, boot or loafer, and these black and white ones might just be the classiest on the market. Loafers will die out when Bella says so.
Debossed-Logo Leather Loafers
Whether you’re after a professional vibe, or looking to smarten up a casual look, you can chuck a blazer over just about anything and instantly level up your outfit.
How could we forget Matilda’s very own fashion line, Djerf Avenue? Basic linen pants are a must-have in any wardrobe. Plus, the beauty of linen pieces is that they get softer with every wear and wash.
This classic blue and white pinstripe button-down is a Djerf Avenue staple. Matilda often styles the sleeves of her shirts folded up at the cuff and buttoned into place, this will give your outfit a more relaxed look.
